Brianne’s Breakfasts Launches 10th Anniversary Fundraising Campaign to Combat Teen Food Insecurity
London, Ont. – This November, London-based non-profit Brianne’s Breakfasts is launching a special fundraising campaign in recognition of National Teen Nutrition month. Celebrating a decade of providing free, nutritious breakfasts to local students, Brianne’s Breakfasts raises awareness and funds for the growing issue of food insecurity among London teenagers. The campaign will take place at Brianne’s Breakfast HQ (111 Cuisineur Court, London, Ont.).
Over the past 10 years, Brianne’s Breakfasts has served over 3,000 students across 12 local secondary schools. As economic pressures rise, the organization’s mission is more important than ever.
“Nutritious breakfasts should not be a privilege,” says Brianne White, founder of Brianne’s Breakfasts. “Rising grocery costs are making it harder for families to afford essentials. No student should start their day on an empty stomach.”
In 2023 alone, grocery prices in London increased by 10.6 per cent, costing a typical family of four an additional $1065 - equivalent to 71 $15 breakfasts. This surge in inflation is affecting not only low-income households but also middle-income families. According to CBC London, one in four local students are unable to afford healthy meals.
To support its program, Brianne’s Breakfasts will host four weekly events in November: a kitchen tour (Nov. 9), a flea market (Nov. 16), a pancake-making day (Nov. 23) and a global flavour festival (Nov. 30). All proceeds will help fund the program’s operations for the next year.
A student who has benefited from the program shared: “Brianne’s Breakfasts didn’t just provide a meal—they reminded me that someone cared."
